About Indelible House

What does Indelible House do?

We provide molecular provenance. We apply an invisible molecular mark to a product, or to its authentication seal, record it in the Indelible House registry, and verify it when the product is sold, resold or doubted.

See the Case Files.

The mark

What is a molecular mark?

An invisible mark that carries encoded information and is linked to a record in our registry. Because the information is in the material itself, it can be read back from a trace sample of the marked object or seal.

How is the mark applied?

In one of three forms, chosen for the product:

  • Code and tamper seal, for packaged and sealed goods such as wine, spirits and produce.
  • Material surface, applied by spray or brush, for components, materials and apparel.
  • Ink, pen and stamp, at the point of creation or signing, for art, memorabilia and documents.

Can you see it? Does it change the product?

The mark is invisible in normal handling and shows under a torch. It does not change the product's form, look or function.

Can it be applied on our production line?

The application form is chosen to fit how the product is made, packed and dispatched. A pilot tests the fit on one product line before anything is scaled.

Will the mark survive our process and the product's life?

The marks are designed to be practically permanent, lasting for decades or longer, even under extreme conditions. The molecular technology behind them has been to the Moon: a molecular archive made with it landed aboard Firefly Aerospace's Blue Ghost lander in Mare Crisium on 2 March 2025.

Can the mark be removed or moved to another product?

No. Moving the mark breaks the molecular code, and it can no longer be verified.

Verification

How is this different from a QR code or a hologram?

A QR code proves that a code is registered, and a hologram proves that a label looks right. Either can be copied onto a fake. A copied code can pass a scan, but it will not carry the molecular mark when a sample is read in a laboratory.

How does a customer check a product?

With a phone. For sealed goods the customer scans or photographs the seal and the verification page opens in the browser, with no app to download. See a verification, step by step.

What happens when the answer has to hold?

A trace sample is taken without damaging the product, and the product stays in its owner's custody. The sample is read in a laboratory, on site or by mail, and the information in the mark either matches the registry record or it does not.

Registry and data

What is recorded in the registry?

Origin, custody, inspection and every verification event are recorded against the mark. The record builds over the product's life.

Do you collect personal information when someone scans a product?

Scan events, including QR scan data, are recorded to keep the record accurate. Personal information is handled under our Privacy Policy and the Australian Privacy Principles.

Can it connect to our systems?

Yes. API specifications and an integration reference are available to your IT team on request.

Cost and getting started

What does it cost?

Every programme is priced for the client. Cost depends on the product, the application form, the number of units and how verification will be used, so we do not publish a price list.

We start by scoping a pilot on one product line. You receive a written proposal, including costs, before you commit to anything.

How do we start?

Tell us the product, where it is sold and where it is copied. We recommend an application form, define the points where verification matters, and scope a pilot on one product line.

The Indelible Standard and the marketplace

What do Original, Marked and Approved mean?

Indelible Original: the mark is applied during production or at source. Indelible Marked: the mark is applied after creation, to an existing product. Indelible Approved: sourced through partners whose provenance meets our standard, without a molecular mark.

Is every Indelible product molecularly marked?

No, and we say so on the item. Original and Marked products carry a molecular mark. Approved products do not.

Do we have to sell through Indelible Shop?

No. The marketplace is an option, not an obligation. Many brands keep their own distribution and use the mark only as protection. The provenance works the same either way.

Can we sell our marked products on Indelible Shop?

Yes, if your products carry the mark or meet the Approved standard. See the marketplace.
